311 Service Requests

Below is a list of common 311 service requests that you can submit by calling 311 or by downloading the 311 app:

Rodent/Rat Baiting:

Use this service request to report a rodent or rat problem. You can request for your alley to be baited and your backyard

Street & Alley Light Out Complaint:

Report a street or alley light outage on a street (street lights are located on metal poles, alley lights are located on a wooden pole). Please be sure to check the exact address of the light.

Tree Planting:

This service request allows residents to plant a tree on the city parkway in front of your house. You are able to request where in the parkway it is planted and how many you would like planted.

Tree Removal:

This request is for dead or diseased trees that need to be removed. An inspector will come out to determine if it should be removed. This request is only for trees on city property.

Garbage Cart Maintenance:

If your black plastic City of Chicago garbage cart is missing or broken, it may be replaced. You must let us know how many carts are missing or broken, and how many carts you have remaining at the address.

Street & Alley Pothole:

Report street and alley potholes. Be sure to be as detailed in describing the location of the pothole. To report a utility cut (a square cut made for utility repairs) or a sinkhole (a deep dip or void in the pavement) call 311 directly.

Graffiti Removal:

Use this request to report graffiti that is on your property, public property or on someone else’s property. Graffiti will either be painted over (if the graffiti is on a painted surface) or blasted off with a high pressure baking soda and water solution (if it is on brick, cement or stone).
