About the 46th Ward
The 46th ward has been a beacon of community for Chicago's northside lakefront for generations, running from Lake Michigan west to Clark Street and from Ainslie south to just past Addison Ave. Our dynamic ward includes the vibrant neighborhoods of Uptown, Buena Park and Lakeview East.
From glamorous dance halls to the Rainbow Coalition and civil rights movement, our community has been home to neighbors from all over the country and world.

Uptown Theater (coming soon) - The Uptown Theatre, a true Chicago landmark, is on its way back! Since its grand opening in 1925, this stunning venue has been a cultural centerpiece, hosting everything from vaudeville to legendary concerts. After closing in 1981, its restoration has been a long-standing community effort.
Alderwoman Angela Clay is working closely with ownership and the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) to bring the Uptown Theatre back to life. This TIF-funded project will not only revive a historic treasure but also boost the Uptown Entertainment District, creating jobs and new cultural experiences for all.
We can’t wait to welcome the Uptown Theatre back—restored, revitalized, and better than ever!
